And nearly one-third of lens wearers have sought health care for potentially preventable problems such as painful or red eyes, they said. ‘Good vision plays a part in overall well-being and independence for folks of all age groups, so it’s important never to cut corners on healthy lens wear and treatment,’ Dr. Jennifer Cope, a medical epidemiologist at the CDC, said within an agency news release. ‘We are finding that lots of wearers are unclear about how exactly to properly wear and care for contacts,’ Cope said. CDC researchers conducted an online survey of lens users and discovered that more than 99 % reported at least one risky habit.
